Classical Piano, Organ, & Harpsichord Lessons Studio Location: North Richland Hills Dr. Tak Yan Yeung has performed extensively as a soloist and collaborative pianist in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and the Greater Los Angeles region. Occasions that he performed at include the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival and the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) Convention. He has made concerto appearances as a pianist with the Texas Christian University Symphony Orchestra and the Azusa Pacific University Symphony Orchestra, and as a harpsichordist with the Texas Christian University Collegium Musicum. Tak Yan was a prizewinner of the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the Music Teachers’ Association of California Piano Concerto and Solo Competitions, and the Redlands Bowl Young Artist Competition. An avid advocate for contemporary composers, he gave the world premiere of Uriah Rinzel’s Mêlée at Dallas Baptist University in 2018. He recently presented a lecture-recital at the College Music Society 2021 South Central Conference. Future engagements include recording and giving the world premiere of Michael Colina’s Piano Concerto with The Florida Orchestra. Tak Yan is also an enthusiastic teacher of music. A Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) of the Music Teachers National Association, he currently serves on the faculty of Tarrant County College. He has given master classes for the Weatherford Music Teachers Association and Fossil Ridge High School. In addition, he has taught group piano classes and piano lessons to the undergraduates at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where he served as an Associate Instructor of Piano. He currently maintains a studio comprising students of all ages and levels in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Tak Yan will begin serving as the treasurer of the Fort Wort Music Teachers Association in Fall 2021. As part of his endeavors to extend his work to music ministry, Tak Yan currently serves as organist and choir accompanist at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Bedford, Texas. He also serves as substitute organist in various churches throughout DFW. Originally from Hong Kong, Tak Yan completed a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at Texas Christian University. a Master of Music in Piano at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and an Artist Certificate at Azusa Pacific University. His principal teachers have included Dr. Tamás Ungár, Dr. Tao Chang, and the late Dr. Karen Shaw. He also holds bachelor's degrees from the University of Hong Kong. He is currently based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in Texas. Tak now teaches private lessons exclusively at his home in North Richland Hills. |
